Deuteronomy 29:23-25

²³ All the nations will ask, “Why has the Lord done these things to this land? Why this furious, terrible anger?” ²⁴ The answer will be, “Because they have forsaken their covenant with the Lord, the God of their fathers, that he made with them when he brought them up out of the land of Egypt. ²⁵ They went off and served other gods, worshiping gods that they did not know, gods that he had not given to them.
